What is Epic Homeschool Mentoring?

Image
I've been homeschooling for almost 20 years. I have eight kids and have three kids that have successfully graduated from my homeschool and been accepted to college. I am offering to connect you with one-on-one encouragement and advice for your specific situation.  Homeschooling is a customizable experience. Parents can take into account their kids needs and abilities and make an educational experience to match their values. For some this is daunting because there is no right answer and no experts. This website offers free resources for planning homeschool lessons. You can access these at any time. If you want to talk to me or receive customized assistance, that is what the mentoring sessions are designed to provide. Each mentoring session lasts about an hour. I will collect feedback from you before the session to help me understand what your biggest concern is so we don't waste your time. If you are homeschooling in a different state than us and your question pertains to a loca

Lesson 13: Abigail Adams and Marie Antoinette Queen of France

Image
Marie Antoinette Abigail Adams Abigail Adams and Marie Antoinette Queen of France In 2020, PBS had a lesson plan about Marie Antoinette to go with their release of a new documentary about her. This material has been removed from the website but the main idea of the lesson plan was to learn about historically significant, politically influential women. In thinking about freedom, it is striking that Abigail Adams and Marie Antoinette were both politically influential at the same time. Comparing the two women is possible only because Abigail Adams wrote so many of her thoughts in letters which are still available to read. Discussion Questions: 1. What influence did women in the late 1700's or early 1800's have on politics? 2. How did politics affect the livelihood of Abigail and Marie Antoinette? 3. Based on their education opportunities, how much of the big picture of world history do you think women understood? 4. What roles were women expected to perform in public life? For You

Ancient History Resources for Homeschool and Personal Study. This weeks topics: the Tenochca, Education, Warfare and Tenochtitlan Ancient History is studied through the collection of archeological evidence, written records and oral stories or myths. Just because evidence shows a particular belief or custom was common at a particular time does not mean that everyone in that civilization shared that belief. When you study the topics for this week, you can either go deep on one topic for the week and skip the others or you can do a new topic each day. This outline is just a suggested pace, you can go slower or faster as needed. This outline is intended to provide you with a place to start. You will still need to do your own research.
